14th June, 1916.
Sir,
With reference to Mr. Harcourt's despatch No. 122
of the 8th May, 1915, I have the honour to inform you that the Council of the University have decided not to use the land, which is now known as Inland Lot No. 2150, for the purpose of a tennis law and recreation ground, and they desire to use it
for general purposes.
I have no objection to this change for which I ask your approval on the understanding that if in the future the land is required by the University for building purposes
a reasonable rent will be charged for it.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
